Selecting baits for the Bluewaters

When choosing the right bait to fish in the Bluewaters of the Gulf of Mexico, can at times feel overwhelming, how do you even go about catching the bait ? Well the truth is a sabiki is a great way to catch larger baits such as blue runners, pin fish and threadfin herring. When your catching bait it is important to have a variety of baits to use offshore whether your fishing for snapper or cobia. Having the right baits can really affect the bite! When your matching the hatch or treating the fish to a nice meal this can be indicative of a better bite! Often times the right bait is the first step to a successful day out in the bluewaters. When fish are feeding it is important to have the right baits for them to chew on, providing nice lively, healthy fresh baits is key to increase odds for big aggressive strikes. Keep this in mind when selecting baits out of the livewell!
